It has been a long time since my last post. It’s amazing how much your life changes and your spare time diminishes when you get an extremely high energy puppy! It’s been so much fun though. You should start to see more updates on my blog because Sherlock has finally reached an age where he has started occupying himself without getting into too much trouble. I have a lot of travel updates for sure!
At the beginning of May we took Sherlock on his first vacation to Holland!
The focus of this trip was of course everything being completely dog friendly. We found a wonderful hotel in the middle of a wildlife reserve along the beach in the town of Wassenaar. Hotel Duinoord was the perfect location to be able to walk Sherlock to see the beach for the first time.
The beach was clean and not very busy which gave us the opportunity to allow Sherlock off leash to fully enjoy his first beach experience. He LOVED it.
Even a few horses rode by!
The hotel itself was older, but well cared for and clean. The staff there was terrific and they accommodated us and our puppy very well. In the one evening it was very chilly and they offered us to sit in the tea room to eat dinner instead of outside with Sherlock. They do not allow dogs in the restaurant for health code reasons, but I thought it was nice of them to offer the tea room.
After a great night’s sleep, we woke up bright and early, checked out of the hotel and headed for the Keukenhof Gardens. The gardens were just stunning. I definitely suggest getting there when they open because by the time we finished seeing the garden and left at about noon, it was packed with a crazy amount of people.
We all had a fun time and Sherlock did wonderful with his first large crowd experiences. I highly recommend seeing the gardens if you are ever in the Netherlands in the spring.
Hope you enjoyed the photos!
